starcitizenhelp – One of StarCraft’s best foreigners is making the move to Overwatch

David “Lilbow” Moschetto says he has “no more passion for StarCraft 2 anymore” and will be switching to Blizzard’s team-based shooter.

In 2015, many StarCraft 2 fans in the west cheered as Lilbow – a French Protoss player for team Millenium – made back-to-back WCS grand finals. Although the non-Asian scene still had its firebrand players, competitive StarCraft remained much in South Korea’s dominion.

Lilbow’s break-out was historic.  Since Ilye “Stephano” Satouri’s run in 2013 in the first season of WCS, no foreigner had made it to the grand finals of Blizzard’s official circuit. A close 2-4 loss to Dong Won “Hydra” Shin in June 2015 then left Lilbow with the silver, but also the combined hope of western StarCraft 2 fans across the scene. Three months later, Lilbow prevailed over Polish player Grzegorz “MaNa” Komincz to take the WCS Season 3 gold of 2015.

With that, Lilbow became the first foreigner in almost three years to win a premier title in StarCraft 2. He also became the one of only two foreigners to have ever qualified for the WCS Global Finals, the other one being Johan “Naniwa” Lucchesi in 2013.

With all his StarCraft pedigree, however, the Frenchman is now looking to move away from Blizzard’s iconic RTS and seek to continue his gaming career elsewhere. In a reddit post, Lilbow revealed his lack of passion for StarCraft and how he’ll try to switch to playing Overwatch as the next step.

“I’m indeed trying to switch into Overwatch as I have no more passion for StarCraft 2 anymore, basically haven’t played the game since four months except a tiny bit to prepare for DreamHack Tours which I lost 3-2 (again….) I don’t want to say too much, just thanks for your support and do not expect a come back for now as my Overwatch experience is truly great.”
