$3.7million World Electronic Sports Games announcement on starcitizenhelp

WESG have released additional information regarding the much anticipated $3.7million event taking place in Shanghai, China this December.​

Regional qualifiers will be taking place across four regions: Asia-Pacific, Europe & CIS, North & South America and South Africa & the Middle East. Each title will see a total of twenty-four teams participate in the finals, following the distribution below:

Organising the South African and Middle East qualifiers will be prominent tournament organisers StarLadder and ImbaTV, who will also be covering travelling and accommodation expenses for all participating teams. The top three teams from the regional qualifiers for each title will receive their respective prize money and a ticket to the WESG Grand-finals. Following is a breakdown of prize money to be had from the regional qualifiers for each of the titles:

The schedule for the South African and Middle East regional qualifiers will be as follows:
 

  • Registration – 5th-12th of August, 2016.
  • Online stage – 13th-14th of August, 2016.
  • Regional finals hosted in Dubai, UAE – 26th-28th of August, 2016.

The event will host regional qualifiers and tournaments across four eSports titles – Dota 2, Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft and Starcraft 2. As mentioned previously, an aggregate $3,702,000 will be up for grabs across all four platforms, with the prize pool skewed towards more popular titles Dota 2 and Counter-Strike: Global Offensive.
